J.A.Frazier moved to Texas at age 25 with his brother Isaac Thomas Frazier. He met Cora Nellie Young soon after arriving in Navarro Co. TX. They were married in 1894 and had eleven children. Only ten children survived to adulthood. The family were sharecroppers or tenant farmers in Navarro Co. until after his death. They farmed in an area south of Corsicana just outside of Richland. It is said that the reason Isaac and J. A. Frazier left Catahoula Parish is because of a shooting between Isaac and the land owner of the farm where they had lived. The crop was ready and the owner had a reputation for evicting the tenants before the crops came in so he wouldn't have to share it. He had told Isaac it leave but he would not go which resulted in the shooting death of the land owner. The sheriff didn't file charges but said it would be best if he left the state before the man's family came after him. There were several Frazier's living in Navarro Co. at the time Isaac and J. A. Frazier came here but it is not known if there was any relation. They had a sister but I have not found who she married. It shows her to be born between Isaac and J.A with the initals of J.A. also. Could possibly be Julia since J. A. named one of his eldest daughters Julia. I do know that there was an aunt : Mary Frazier Baggett Casey and another brother Elijah or they may have called him Elege. ( J.A. named one of his sons after him) It is not known if he lived in Navarro or one of the surrounding counties. Aunt Mary was living in McLennan Co. died May 07, 1914 in Leroy, McLennan, Texas.

Cora Nellie Young and her brother Jack Young moved to Navarro County around the same time as the Frazier's. She moved here from Corinth MS and I have not found out much about her family.
She was a petite woman and very soft spoken but worked very hard all her life. Cora went to live with her daughter in Conroe not very long after the death of her husband John in 1932. She died of cancer in 1967 near Conroe TX where she had been living with her daughters Julia and Lillie. They ran a boarding house in the Old Conroe Hotel in downtown Conroe before Interstate 45 was built. It was said that they served the best home cooked meal in town.

My Grandfather was still living in Leon County TX when he died, less than 45 miles from his birthplace in Navarro Co. TX He still remembered all the family stories and told lots of stories about his family's experiences in Louisiana as share croppers and of growing up as a farmer in rural Texas during the Depression. His first paying job was working in the oilfields of East Texas and during WWII he worked in the Houston Ship Yards. He watched as the ships brought home all the soldiers after the war and knew then what he wanted to do. He knew a little about home building from building his own house and knew all these men would need homes for their families. He went into the home construction business. That became his life long career. He was still into real estate in one way or another until the very day he died. He was self-taught and very proud of what he had accomplished in his lifetime and wished the same for all of his children.

Mother: Lillian Arenda Brown Stevens SandersJess Stevens and Lillie Brown were married on Dec. 5, 1912 in Limestone Co. TX. Lillie died in 1957 but Jess Stevens whereabouts is still unknown. My Grandmother was born in Groesbeck, TX. She has one sister Mildred STEVENS who is still living in a nursing home in Groesbeck and several half siblings. Their mother Lillian Arenda Brown is buried at the Fort Parker Cemetery. with her second husband George Rumulus Sanders. My Grandmother, Minnie Ola never knew much about her father because he was sent to jail when she was very young. She always looked for him and wondered what became of him. She told me he like to tinker with cars and thought he may have been a mechanic. Minnie Ola Stevens Frazier died on April 15, 1975 in Beaumont TX, after suffering for several years with colon cancer. I am still looking for information about her father. She asked an uncle, Jeff Stevens, that lived in Groesbeck but he told her she was better off not knowing. Jess Stevens had a sister named Kathleen who lived in Navarro Co. near Streetman. They may have been kin to the McGee family of Richland, Navarro Co. TX. due to the fact that she was visiting her fathers family when she met my grandfather in Corsicana. He also had a brother named Tom Stevens and Jeff Stevens. Tom Stevens was living in Shreveport, LA at the time of his death. Jeff Stevens died in 1987 in Limestone, Co. TX
Minnie Ola's mother Lillie remarried and raised several more children with Mr. George Romulus Sanders. He was a tenant farmer in the Limestone Co. area near Oletha. I am sure they lived in other areas of the county too. Lillie and George Sanders had two sons and several daughters: Thomas, William, Alice, Lucille, Ella Pearl, Edith Ione, Georgie Ruth, and Nona Faye.

Leslie was the oldest son of Les and Thelma Frazier
Leslie had just graduated and had registered for the fall term at Texas A&M, when he fell asleep at the wheel and hit his head. A couple of weeks later he was taken from Kingsville to San Antonio
where a blood clot was found in his brain but he died before anything could be done.
